Hey I'm 17 and have pretty bad acne... I have an appointment with my dermatologist Fri. and she wants to put me on birth control prob. yaz.. well I heard birth control can cause hair loss! And I'm kinda debating weather to get on it or not because I don't have thick hair and I really don't want to lose any :/
So how common is this?
Did you have hair loss?
ANYONE who has ever been on birth control please answer every answer counts :)Did birth control cause hair loss for YOU?
I have super-thick hair but never lost a strand due to BCP back when I took them (Ortho Tri-Cyclen.)
Now, I looked up *all* of Yaz's side effects on drugs.com and this is what it says (and I'm sorry, but I would think that loss of appetite is a LESS serious side effect in a woman than hair loss, but it does list possible hair loss in the ';less serious side effect';:)
Yaz side effects

chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;

Less serious Yaz side effects may include:
breast pain, tenderness, or swelling;
freckles or darkening of facial skin, increased hair growth, or loss of scalp hair;
changes in weight or appetite, swelling of your hands or feet;
problems with contact lenses;
vaginal itching or discharge; or
changes in your menstrual periods.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800- FDA-1088.
+ + + + + + + + + +
Talk to your doctor. Yaz isn't the only pill out there. Good luck.
