She suffers from flea allergies and lossing her hair bad. I keep her on frontline a bathe frequently with flea shampoo. Someone gave me a steroide awhile back that was precribed to their dog for the same reason, it worked for the time being, but now without the pill it has just gotten worst. What do you give a dog for hair loss?
Hair Club for Dogs?
Seriously, prednisone may help, but remember that it has side effects too, like causing the dog to pee in the house and occasional insanity. Yes, seriously.
Have you tried something like a lidocaine spray so that she'll quit scratching at it?
Good luck! What do you give a dog for hair loss?
You gave your dog steroids without consulting a vet??? How incredibly irresponsible. Let me break down your question:
1. Frontline should be issued once a month and make sure you are getting the correct dosage for her weight
2. Overbathing will cause skin irritation. You should ONLY be bathing her with soap every 6 weeks or so. They need the oils on their skin and if you wash them too frequently they will get irritated skin.
3. If your dog has any kind of health issues, please bring her to the vet and don't play doctor yourself. You could have made the problem worse. Your friends dog could have been suffering from a completely different ailment altogether. Lesson learned for next time?
I would get a second opinion. My dog also has allergic reactions, but normally, this should not cause hair LOSS. You should ask your vet to check her for Mange.
Consult your vet.
call ur vet and get the dog the pill
You get a vet
