Hair loss is due to mineral deficiencies and the loss of stem cells that naturally are found in the scalp. Minerals are depleted from the body due to infections and lack of minerals in foods you eat. Additionally, the lack of ';B'; vitamins can also have a big effect as well as fatty acid imbalances due to poor food choices.
If you look at pictures of old Aborigines in Australia that are still eating their primitive diets of mostly animals, you will notice that they have lots of hair, way into old age. Diet is the key to keeping your hair. Genetics does play a role, but not as much as diet.

Is saw palmetto extract effective in halting and reversing hair loss? What about the drug Avodart?
Take a look at this:
';According to the most recent scientific research, men who lose their hair have an increased level of a substance called DHT in their scalps. PROPECIA庐 as well as its generic form blocks the formation of DHT and, as a result, interrupts a key factor in the development of male pattern hair loss. The most important thing is that with PROPECIA庐 you grow natural hair, not just ';peach fuzz';. Besides, it's convenient to take PROPECIA庐 as a vitamin: one pill a day.
GENERIC PROPECIA庐 is an innovation among medicines for male hair loss. It's the first drug that actually effectively treats male pattern hair loss on the vertex (at top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area.';
Hairloss is mostly genetic and gets aggravated by diet. Some guys just don't have the genes that cause hairloss and don't lose hair regardless of diet. Foods high in cholesterol like fried foods and red meat can definitely cause hairloss if you're susceptible. Cut or drastically reduce those foods.
I wouldn't recommend avodart or any hairloss drug because they all have nasty side effects. Loss of libido, decreased sperm production, breast growth(!!!).. Even if those drugs do work as soon as you go off them you'll start losing hair again. Not worth it at all.. I tried finasteride, the effect on my libido terrible and after 6 months I quit because there was no improvement in hair growth. It took a while before my libido became normal again after quitting. I think avodart has the same or similar side effects. Saw palmetto might work it might not depending on your body chemistry. Even if it does work chances are the results will be barely noticable..
I don't recommend this because it's just an experiment for myself but I'm fasting and going on a pescetarian (mostly vegetarian + seafood) diet to halt my hairloss and hopefully reverse it. I'm trying to fast because a friend of mine has gone vegetarian and has been going on extended fasts for years, 5-6 times a year, and he was thinning alot on top before he started and now his head is much much fuller.. the way his hairloss was progressing, he really should've be bald by now. But I won't recommend it because fasting can be dangerous if you're not prepared. I do recommend changing your diet though. Good luck dude.
