Do you think birth control may have a effect on my hair loss?

I have been using birth control since I was 15, due to heavy bleeding and cramping. I have gone off the pill twice, in which I became pregnant both times. These were planned pregnancies. I continued with the pill again shortly after my last one. It has been almost 4 years. I noticed about a year and a half ago that my hair was starting to thin. I did'nt think too much of it. Thought it was maybe because of stress. Well, I continued to lose more. I saw my doctor, he ran all kinds of tests to make sure it was'nt my thyroid etc.(they were all negative) and decided to have me try an anti-depressant. I still have'nt seen any improvement. At my next visit, he advised me to discontinue the pill for about 6 months, to see if it may have something to do with it. I took my last pill yesterday. Any advice or experience with this? And what other types of birth control would you recommend? FYI, we do not plan on having anymore children. I'd really appreciate any input. Thanks!Do you think birth control may have a effect on my hair loss?
It would have been much easier for me to help you would you have written which b/c you were using. Most of the b/c cause some sort of side effects, some more severe some less but they all contain hormones and hormones cause problems. What I suggest is type into google or yahoo the name of your pill with the two words ';side effects'; and see what you find. There are sooooo many b/c on the market. There are other methods most with hormones and just one (except condoms) without and that is the copper IUD. You can read all about it here

and more of the same here
