My hair recently began falling out quite a bit, which I think may be related to changing my birth control pills. I had my thyroid tested and it was on the low end of normal. Any advice or other experiences?Has anyone ever experienced hair loss related to birth control pills? How long did it last?
Any hormonal change could cause hair loss. That includes starting, stopping or changing birth control pill. A low thyroid could also cause hair loss. Sometimes with thyroid related hair loss the outer third of the eyebrow may also be missing. Certain thyroid medications can cause hair loss so make sure you check side effects if your doctor prescribes medication.
There are also many other possible causes of the type of hair loss you are experiencing. But because it coincided with the change in birth control, it sounds likely.
This type of hair loss is not permanent. Once the cause is identified and addressed, hair growth will usually resume normally again.
I used essential oils to help my hair loss problem.
